My name is Simon Downing. I am the Minister at Aston Clinton Baptist Church, and have been so for just over six years. I received my ministerial training a number of years ago, at Birmingham Bible Institute and Westhill College, Birmingham University.

Overall, I have been in ministry for seventeen years, which includes two other previous churches, and have been married for almost as long, to my wonderful wife Nicky. We also have two children, and spending time with my family is very important to me; I love them dearly.

I am passionate about my faith, and I truly believe in a God who can make a difference to us in the 21st century. I believe in a powerful Holy Spirit who can change lives, if we open up to him. A relationship with Jesus is fundamental to all that I do, and I try to convey this in different ways within my ministry as well. My heart is to see the Church today being like the Church Jesus first founded. Naturally, you are very welcome to come along to Aston Clinton Baptist Church at any time.

I have a number of pastimes, one of which is Badminton which I try to play as regularly as I can - which I think I am fairly reasonable at! I enjoy photography, particularly astro-photography (which involves using a telescope), and open spaces are always a pleasure. I like cooking and am happy to dabble in ‘alternative cuisine!'

I also like holidays, and having the opportunity to get away from things for a while.

God bless you.

Gill Brownell, Deacon

I have been a deacon for just over 2 years now.  I moved to ACBC in 2009 from another Baptist Church.  I run a monthly Soup Lunch as a support for Christian women - all ladies welcome to attend.  I work in a local college; teaching young adults with learning difficulties 'employability' skills .  To relax, I enjoy playing tennis regularly and cooking.

Sue Leach, Deacon

I am in my second year as a deacon. I host 2 home groups in my home, and I am on the preaching rota.

I love to be with people, cook and natter… The order can vary but the enjoyment does not.

Martin Spriggs, Treasurer

We arrived at the church in 1992. I have been a deacon (or treasurer) for much of the time since 1993, and am currently involved with a homegroup, and visiting.

Our Leadership

Hi, I'm Susanna, the youth worker for Aston Clinton Baptist Church. I am married with two teenagers, and first got involved in youthwork five years ago, helping to run the youth cafe when it first opened here in 2007.

I eventually left my job in mental health in 2008 to take on and develop more youth projects for Aston Clinton Baptist Church, and we now run a number of groups and events for the young people in our church, and in the village as a whole.

I am passionate about seeing young people start to belong and feel included, to grow and develop as individuals, become involved in our community, and most of all to tell them the good news about Jesus Christ and see lives changed.
