We are called to serve God and to share his love with others

After a lot of prayer and discussion within the fellowship we agreed to adopt this as our mission statement. It is an attempt to capture in a single sentence what we, as a part of God's church, feel we are called to do.

As it literally says, before all else we are called to serve God. What form that service takes is many and varied, as the people who form our congregation are many and varied. We each try to use our gifts and talents to serve God.

The second part, however, is one major part of our service - To share his love with other people.

We believe it is important in a world where many people feel unloved, to show them love in both emotional and practical ways. In a world where condemnation and judgment are commonplace, we try to express the saving love, grace and mercy of God.

We therefore chose this simple sentence as our mission statement because we feel that the love of God, which goes beyond our understanding, is worth sharing, and sharing it is our service to God. We recognise five purposes for our church

·         Worship -placing our primary focus on God

·         Evangelism - reaching other people for Christ

·         Discipleship - developing a relationship with Jesus

·         Fellowship - maintaining relationships with each other

        ·         Ministry - serving God with our gifts and talents
